THIS IS THE CURRENT STATE MEETING REPORT:

The fall meeting of the WSFCCA was held on Sat. October 11, 2008 in South Snohomish.

The minutes of the June meeting were read and approved.

A financial report was handed out and is available upon request. A sheet was handed out with the number of members in each chapter.

There were reports on the Early Learning group, STARS changes, the DEL town hall meeting in Lacey, the Early Learning Advisory Council, SEIU and the QRIS ( now called Seeds to Success) More information is available on all of this from me.

A reminder was given that all providers who accept state subsidized children must take the current subsidy training. If you don’t complete this training you will no longer be eligible for state payments.

We have some handouts on these subjects so if you would like to see them let me know.

We were also reminded to read all the mailings from DEL as they contain some very important information.

There have been some changes in the Union contract. The infant subsidy rate will continue until 18 months of age rather than 12 months. There will be a slight increase in our subsidy rates. To retain the health insurance you must have 60 units each month thru the state subsidies.

The WSFCCA conference is in April and scholarships are available on a first come first serve basis. The registration forms will be out in Jan. The conference is in Sea-Tac this year and is a great opportunity.

Our new newsletter editor is Kathy Miller.

WSFCCA will be focusing on unlicensed child care this year and trying to get more legislation to help put an end to this.

The Pierce county chapter and the Clark county chapter have both chosen to leave the state association.

We decided to make no by law or standing rules changes at this time.

If you have any questions or would like more information please contact Carol  Wilson or Joan Aarts.
